Today is Giving Tuesday. Your Assignment: Think Globally and Act Locally!

It’s easy to become frozen with fear by scary global reports, politcs, election results, man-made and natural disasters–but it’s important to remember that each of us has the power to make a big difference. Each single positive action, in fact, is what it takes to bring about positive change.

We can achive a great deal towards building this momentum for positive change with our collective energy. Contributing doesn’t have to be overwhelming. We can start small and simply resolve to do our part at home in our local communities.

Together, we can create real change by engaging in action at the local level.

So what can you do today?

One way that YOU can contribute and take action in your community today is by supporting your local land conservation organization, Save Mount Diablo.

Land is literally the common ground we all share.

Preserving more land builds and maintains corridors that protect wildlife, produces oxygen, assists in capturing carbon dioxide, and ultimately strengthens our fragile ecosystems which hang in the balance. Let’s not take it for granted.

On #GivingTuesday this year, Save Mount Diablo seeks to raise at least $5,000.

Will you help us achieve our goal?

Participating in Giving Tuesday–a global movement–not only provides Save Mount Diablo with needed resources but helps inspire personal philanthropy and encourage charitable giving during the holiday season.

Here are a few ways for you to give back to Save Mount Diablo:

  • Make a Donation and support our programs to preserve, defend, restore and enjoy Diablo’s wild lands!

A Few Reasons Our Supporters Give to Save Mount Diablo, In Their Words

“My ancestors came to the foothills of Mt. Diablo and planted the first walnut trees. They instilled in me an adventurous spirit and a love of the mountain. This is why I support Save Mount Diablo.”

~ Shirley L., SMD Supporter

“Whether away for the day or longer, the sight of Mt. Diablo always evokes the warm welcoming feeling of ‘I’m home.’ When flying into Oakland, my usual window seat provides that beautiful view. Because I treasure Mt. Diablo’s presence and preservation, Save Mt. Diablo has my wholehearted support.”

~ Ginny F., SMD Supporter

“I absolutely love Mount Diablo because it allows me to experience the beauty of nature on a daily basis. Whether riding with friends or hiking by myself, I use the time to reflect and to appreciate how fortunate we are living in the Bay Area”

~ Elizabeth Enea, Compass Real Estate

“The visionaries who founded Save Mount Diablo, the talented staff, numerous devoted volunteers and dedicated donors make it possible for me to lose myself in nature, and yet just be steps from home. I can’t imagine a more perfect setting in which to live.”

~ Giselle J., SMD Supporter

“The staff, volunteers and supporters of Save Mount Diablo put exceptional commitment, effort and integrity into their mission to “preserve, defend, restore, and enjoy” Mount Diablo and range, watershed and wildlife. They take political action, cooperate and collaborate with educators and other environmental entities, and connect young and old to nature through restoration projects and guided hikes. When you support Save Mount Diablo you help protect the earth and its wild places, you help build a bulwark against despair, and foster hope and optimism.”

~ Kristen Wick, SMD Volunteer
