How did you learn about Save Mount Diablo?
I was referred by a childhood friend’s mother to come check out the organization.
When did you start volunteering with us, and why did you get involved?
I started volunteering in late June. I got involved because in order to complete my degree in fisheries and wildlife I need to get out and gain experience as well as help people make a difference.
Which Save Mount Diablo programs are you involved in?
I was part of the watering crew and helped with other projects when staff needed help either weeding, making a trail, or just more watering.
What do you enjoy about the volunteer work you do?
I just love being outside, I enjoy meeting new people and learning new skills on how to care for the world around us.
What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on as a Save Mount Diablo volunteer?
So far, no project has been truly challenging. If I had to say, workwise making the trail at Big Bend was the most physically demanding, but we finished it in only a few hours and it looked great.
Is there a memorable experience you’ve had as a Save Mount Diablo volunteer?
I think my most memorable experience was just a few days ago when we weeded thistles at the top of Curry Canyon Ranch, I think the ride up there was really fun and the view while working was great.
How do you spend your time beyond your volunteer work with us?
I’m about to finish my degree at Oregon State University in fisheries and wildlife, and when I’m home I help foster kittens and rabbits with my family.
