After the week of stormy weather, the sun finally emerged for our monthly Integrated Pest Management (IPM) workday. Saturated soils afforded perfect conditions for mechanically targeting artichoke thistle and tree of heaven. With no tree of heaven seedlings to be found, the group focused on bagging artichoke thistle seed heads and digging out roots.
Additionally, oak tree plantings on the property had been knocked over by the stormy winds. Some volunteers readjusted the plantings and also weeded stinkwort that had popped up in wet spots. Thank you so much for your work volunteers!
