Volunteer of the Month | Sarah Lynch

Sarah Lynch

How long have you lived in the Bay Area?

My whole life. Originally from Mill Valley, grew up on the top of Mount Tam.

How did you learn about Save Mount Diablo?

Through my work. We assist property owners who want to develop their property with finding lands to preserve as mitigation for the development, and Save Mount Diablo is one of the conservation organizations we work with.

When did you start volunteering with us, and why did you get involved?

2023. The lands Save Mount Diablo protects are in “my back yard” and I want to assist Save Mount Diablo in any way I can in taking care of these lands so that they remain high quality open space areas.

Which Save Mount Diablo programs are you involved in?

Land stewardship.

What do you enjoy about the volunteer work you do?

The lands I get to visit are beautiful, and I love being outside. The staff I have interacted with at Save Mount Diablo is super friendly and helpful, and I enjoy interacting with all of them.

What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on as a Save Mount Diablo volunteer?

I haven’t done too many volunteer activities since I am a new volunteer, but hiking to the top of Curry Canyon Ranch from the bottom is challenging—especially in rainy weather!

Is there a memorable experience you’ve had as a Save Mount Diablo volunteer?

Nothing immediately stands out in my mind, but all my experiences on Save Mount Diablo lands have been positive, and the nature I see when I am hiking always fills my heart (I am a sap, but it is true!).  Love my bobcat sightings, too!

How do you spend your time beyond your volunteer work with us?

When I am not at work, I love to hike (surprise!), garden, and travel.

Join us to save the remaining natural lands of Mount Diablo!
