Danville, CA – Registration is open for the 37th Annual Mt. Diablo Challenge (MDC), a San Francisco-area cycling event to be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019.

The 11.2 mile, timed ride climbs 3,249 feet to the summit of Mt. Diablo, one of the three highest peaks in the Bay Area, located in Mt. Diablo State Park, Danville, California, 40 miles east of San Francisco off I-680. The road is closed to traffic during the event.

The MDC, which has been called one of the “best and hardest climbs in the United States” by Bicycling.com, attracts male and female road cyclists from 11 to 80 years old, including pros, semi-pros, and recreational cyclists on road bikes, tandems and unicycles. Prizes are awarded in 16 age categories, including King and Queen of the Mountain.

“The Mt. Diablo Challenge is a one-of-a kind cycling experience featuring a climb up one of the most iconic peaks in California,” said Mark Dedon, president of the Valley Spokesmen Bicycling Club, the event sponsor and one of the oldest and largest bicycling clubs in the Bay Area. “We welcome the hundreds of cyclists who are continuing or just starting their 2019 Mt.
