Hike the trail above Castle Rock Recreation Area to Pine Creek and then into Mount Diablo State Park, returning via other regional park trails. Sights abound, including the sandstone formations where peregrine falcons nest sometime between February 1 and July 31, mixed woodland habitat, and open grassland. Be sure to bring plenty of water, a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended; hiking poles may be useful. Restrooms available. Heavy rain cancels.
This hike is limited to 20 participants.
