DiRT Day: Irish Canyon Acorn Planting

February 14 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free
Volunteer outdoors to plant acorns and build wildlife habitat!

Diablo Restoration Team (DiRT) Day at Irish Canyon

Please join us to spread the love of our planet earth by planting oak acorns and building wildlife habitat! We are adding another restoration planting site to our Irish Canyon project in partnership with the East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy. We will plant oak acorns with protective materials surrounding them and celebrate our love for nature.

Please Note: Due to muddy trail conditions, we will most likely need to walk in to our work site. The distance from our meeting location to the work site is about 1.5-miles one way and is very scenic. Our workday is scheduled to be longer to accommodate hiking to and from the site. Please bring a lunch!

Please RSVP if you are able to attend so that we know to expect you. Our waiver is included in the sign up process.

Meet: Black Diamond Parking Lot off Clayton Road at the following GPS coordinates: 37.941130, -121.928178.

Parking: There is a small lot at our meeting spot and there is a larger lot located at 1000 Peacock Creek Dr, Clayton, CA 94517.

What to Bring: Plenty of water, snacks, and lunch. Sturdy shoes, comfy work clothes, weather protection (i.e. hat, sunscreen, raincoat, layers), eye protection (sunglasses are OK), work gloves if you have them (we also have extras).

Policy for volunteers under 18 years old: All volunteers that are minors must be accompanied by an adult and the adult must sign the minor up on their behalf.

Participants will be notified in the event of cancellation due to extreme weather conditions. An AQI of 150 or above automatically cancels the workday.
