DiRT Day: Habitat Restoration at Marsh Creek 6 and 4

September 23, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Free
Celebrate 50 years with us! Volunteer outdoors to restore Save Mount Diablo’s Marsh Creek 6 property!

Diablo Restoration Team Workday at Marsh Creek 6

Enjoy the beauty of Mount Diablo’s foothills as we help native bunchgrasses, shrubs, and woody plantings on a volcanic dome. We planted and protected 1,000 native plants and trees in 2021! Please join us to take care of the plantings at our restoration sites on Marsh Creek 6. Tasks include watering, mulching and weeding. If we have extra time, we will water near the parking area at Marsh Creek 4.

Please note: There’s a short, steep walk up a paved road from the parking area to the property.

Participants will be notified in the event of cancellation due to extreme weather conditions. An AQI of 150 or above automatically cancels the workday. Restrooms are not available.

Leader:  Haley Sutton, Land Stewardship Associate, Save Mount Diablo

Meet: Marsh Creek 4 at 3240 Aspara Drive, Clayton, CA

Directions: From Walnut Creek: Head east on Ygnacio Valley Road from Walnut Creek, turn right on Clayton Road, which becomes Marsh Creek Road. Aspara Drive is off the right side of Marsh Creek Road, 1.5 miles past the intersection of Morgan Territory Road.

What to Bring: Water, sturdy shoes, comfy work clothes and layers, sun and/or rain protection (i.e. hat, sunscreen), face covering, and work gloves if you have them. Please be prepared to walk through tall grass. No bathrooms are available at the project site.

Our Policy on Volunteers under the Age of 18

As we continue to strive to bridge the gap between youth and nature, we encourage families and youth groups to participate in our stewardship workdays. We have outlined our policy on volunteers under the age of 18 in order to create the best environment for everyone involved. Please note, our stewardship workdays are not drop-off programs.

Young volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. In addition, they should meet one of the following requirements before participating in our stewardship workdays:

  • Be accompanied by their adult guardian/parent/chaperone throughout the duration of the workday
  • Be a part of a recognized organization (such as a school group, youth group, etc.) with their authorized chaperone/teacher/leader present at the workday

Adults accompanying minors must also RSVP for the event.

If you have any questions or accessibility concerns, you can reach our Diablo Restoration Team leader, Haley Sutton, at hsutton@savemountdiablo.org.
