This loop hike through blue oak woodland leads us from Borges Ranch into the adjacent Shell Ridge Open Space and back via a mix of fire roads and footpaths on the quieter, north side of the Shell Ridge formation. Most of the route is easy and relatively level, though a few moderate climbs/descents add interest and views of Mount Diablo and the surrounding area.
Be sure to bring plenty of water, a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Heavy rain cancels.
Restrooms are available at parking lot.
Hike is limited to 20 participants.
Participants will also be required to accept our COVID-19 Protocol (available during registration).
