Getting to the Dig Day Staging Area
Drive to North Gate Entrance for Mount Diablo State Park.
Mount Diablo has a $10 entrance fee. For free vehicle admission, show a print-out of this event to the Docent at the pay station.
Next, drive up North Gate Rd and then park at either pullout near the trail junction of Little Pine Creek Rd or Burma Rd.
Hike on either one of those trails toward Sunset Trail. When near the top of Sunset Trail, while on Falcon Rd, take the adjacent unnamed fire road that climbs parallel and above Sunset Trail.
That unnamed fire road terminates at the start of Castle Rock Trail and the staging area for the Dig Day (See Bullseye in map screenshot below).
What to Bring: Water bottle and snacks. Sturdy closed-toed shoes, comfy work clothes with long sleeves and long pants, eye protection.
Registration ends the day before the event at 5pm, but do not worry if eventbrite registration has closed.
On-site, day-of registration is available at the Castle Rock and Little Yosemite trailheads on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
