This fall, we were racing against the clock to raise $500,000 to purchase and restore Krane Pond, one of the largest ponds on Mount Diablo’s north side.

Nestled on the slopes of Mount Diablo’s north peak, Krane Pond is a vital water source for Mount Diablo’s wildlife, one that contains water throughout most summers, unlike many of the creeks and other ponds found on Mount Diablo.

We’re extremely grateful to Joan Morris for spreading the word about Krane Pond in her East Bay Times and Mercury News column. We received 257 donations totaling $61,361 from her readers, many of whom are new donors!
