Planting at Mangini Ranch
Join us to add plants to two new restoration areas near the parking lot of our Educational Preserve! Volunteers must be comfortable working on the ground and getting their hands dirty!
Participants will be notified in the event of cancellation due to extreme weather conditions. An AQI of 150 or above automatically cancels the workday. Restrooms are not available.
Leader: Haley Sutton, Land Stewardship Associate, Save Mount Diablo
Meet: Mangini Ranch. Enter through the gate adjacent to 5318 Crystyl Ranch Drive, Concord, CA 94521. A staff member will be present.
Parking: We will have our two gates open prior to the event start time and will close the gates 10 minutes after event start time. SMD staff will be at the first gate to welcome you. If you arrive after the gates close you can park on the street and walk the 0.3 miles to the property from the main road. The road is unpaved gravel and dirt (low clearance vehicles have not had a problem entering the property). The parking lot is a mowed grassy area.
What to Bring: Water, sturdy shoes, comfy work pants, weather protection (i.e. hat, sunscreen, layers), face covering, and work gloves if you have them.
As we continue to strive to bridge the gap between youth and nature, we encourage families and youth groups to participate in our stewardship workdays. We have outlined our policy on volunteers under the age of 18 in order to create the best environment for everyone involved. Please note, our stewardship workdays are not drop-off programs.
Young volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. In addition, they should meet one of the following requirements before participating on our stewardship workdays:
If you have any questions about our policy, you can reach our Diablo Restoration Team leader, Haley Sutton, at hsutton@savemountdiablo.org.
