Join Save Mount Diablo’s largest BioBlitz yet! We’re covering the SCU Lightning Complex fire footprint throughout a two-week period from April 16th to April 30th and are looking for citizen scientists to help us monitor the plants, animals, and fungi, popping up throughout the burned sites.
During this Zoom session, we’ll provide more information about our BioBlitz event and do a quick refresher on how to use the iNaturalist app.
Save Mount Diablo is also teaming up with the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) for our 2022 BioBlitz. We’ll be using the CNPS SCU Fire Complex iNaturalist project to keep track of people’s observations.
While the CNPS Fire Followers project encompasses all the 2020 fire footprints for a longer period of time, Save Mount Diablo will be specifically looking at the impact of the SCU Lightning Complex. We very much encourage everyone to explore other fire footprints and to continue uploading observations onto the CNPS projects after SMD’s two-week BioBlitz ends.
