Rocks on the Move

October 28 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm

Castle Rock
All Discover Diablo hikes are subject to, and will honor, all applicable COVID-19–related restrictions in place for our area.

Join us as we explore 180 million years of geologic history on Mount Diablo. What do the summit of Mount Diablo and the Marin Headlands have in common? How is Sentinel Rock in Rock City related to Yosemite’s Half Dome?

We’ll discover the answers we car caravan up Mount Diablo to visit different areas with fascinating geologic features and take short hikes to see rocks, landforms, and fossils.

Be sure to bring plenty of water, a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Heavy rain cancels.

***There will be a $10 park entrance fee (exact change required)

Participants will be required to accept our COVID-19 Protocol (available during registration).
