Jurassic Park Geology

November 21, 2021 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm

All Discover Diablo hikes are subject to, and will honor, all applicable COVID-19–related restrictions in place for our area.

About this event

Join us as we explore 180 million years of geologic history on Mount Diablo. What do the summit of Mount Diablo and the Marin Headlands have in common? How is Sentinel Rock in Rock City related to Yosemite’s El Capitan?

Find the answers we car caravan on North and South Gate Roads to visit different areas with fascinating geology and take short hikes to see rocks, landforms, and fossils. Be sure to bring plenty of water and a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Heavy rain cancels.

***There will be a $10 park entrance fee (exact cash required)

Due to COVID-19, all participants must bring a mask and stay 6ft apart (this may change by November 2021). Hand sanitizer will be available at the hike.

Participants will also be required to accept our COVID-19 Protocol (available during registration).
