May 5 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Free
Join Founding SMD Board member and retired General Manager Bob Doyle for an exploration of one of his favorite Regional Parks where he worked as a park ranger.
We will explore the natural and cultural mining history of this large regional preserve. The route will take us past coal and sand mines on the Black Diamond to Mt Diablo trail with views of Mt Diablo , Kreger Peak, Morgan Territory, Deer Valley, Clayton and the Pittsburg hills. There should be lots of wildflowers.
Be sure to bring plenty of water and a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Heavy rain cancels.
Restrooms available at parking lot.
Participants will also be required to accept our COVID-19 Protocol (available during registration).
